THE PITS
AS OF MONDAY JUNE 21,2010, THE MEMBERSHIP WIIL HAVE ACCESS TO THE PITS ON A LIMITED AND RESTRICTED BASIS. THE PITS WILL BE OPEN FOR LEAGUES/MATCHES ON WEEKENDS AND PLINKING. PLEASE CHECK THE ALERTS IF YOU INTEND TO SHOOT DURING THE WEEK AS CONSTRUCTIUON CAN BE GOING ON AT ANY TIME. THIS WILL REQUIRE MEMBERS TO KEEP THE AREA CLEAN OF BRASS AND DEBRIS. THE TEMPORARY SIDE BERMS ARE ONLY 25 YARDS LONG AND ALL TARGETS MUST BE AS CLOSE TO THE BACK BERM AS POSSIBLE, NO SHOOTING INTO THE SIDE BERMS. IF THE PITS BECOME A GARBAGE DUMP THEN THEY WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL WE GET THE FINAL APPROVALS FROM THE PINELANDS AND JACKSON TWP. THERE IS STILL ALOT OF WORK TO BE DONE AND CLEANING UP TRASH IS NOT IN THE BUDGET.

RICOCHET ALERT
Two line men from Central Jersey Power & Light visited the range complaining that as they worked on the towers, as seen from the 300 yd. range, bullets wizzed by them.

On the following day the head of CJP&L Safety Dept visited the range. He explained he had to report the issue to the Home Land Security and Jackson Police.

We placated him by taking steps to reduce/prevent ricochets as implausable as it may seem. We inspected the berms and conclude that bullets ricocheting off the 50yrd. and 100yrd. berms may be the major causation.

EFFECTIVE EMMEDIATLY Only 6ft tall Target holders are to be used on the 50 and 100 yard ranges. The club has produced a number of these holders for your use. Absolutly no bottles, cans, bowling pins, or any other target is to be placed on top or infront of the 50 and/or 100 yard berm.

EVERY BULLET YOU SHOOT MUST GO INTO THE BACK BERM.

Indoor Range CLOSED Saturdays 7 to 9 PM for Janitorial Services
Starting Saturday June 6th & every Saturday thereafter, the indoor range will be closed for cleaning. Sorry for the disruption but with the much increased useage, the janitor has had the difficult to often times impossible task of trying to work around our scheduled events & the casual shooters. In an effort to maintain a workable weekly cleaning schedule this was our only option.
